African Diplomatic Corps, Coordinator of the Embassy of South Sudan, African Goodwill Ambassador, AFDA Chairman of the Board, Mesvak Vice President, Honorary Consul Osman GENÇ hosted press members on the occasion of June 12, World Day Against Child Labor at AFDA.
AFDA Chairman Osman Genç continued his speech as follows
Today, June 12, we celebrate the World Day against Child Labor. This important day draws attention to an issue we are fighting to ensure that children grow up safe, healthy and able to receive an education. Child labor is still a widespread problem around the world, violating children's rights and hindering their potential.
Every child should have freedom, love, education and a playful childhood. However, millions of children are still forced to work in dangerous, exploitative jobs. This negatively affects children's health and development and robs them of their dreams and futures.
Combating child labor is the responsibility of all of us. As a society, we must work together to protect children's rights and provide them with a safe environment. As governments, civil society organizations, businesses and individuals, we must take effective steps to combat child labor.
There are many things we can do about this. First, we need to raise awareness about child labor. It is important to raise people's awareness and encourage them to take action against this problem. At the same time, we need to address the root causes that lead to child labor. Expanding educational opportunities, reducing poverty, strengthening social protection mechanisms and enacting legislation that protects children from exploitation are important steps in this fight.
Let us not forget that child labor is not just a child's story, it is also the story of all of us. Every child has the right to a safe and hopeful future. On this World Day against Child Labor, let us join hands to defend and protect the rights of children.
Let us strive to see smiles, education and hope on the faces of our children. Let's continue the fight against child labor for a better world.
